Exhibit: Placida Paper: Turning Algae into Art

Exhibit: Placida Paper: Turning Algae into Art In-Person

Students in Dr. David Bowne’s BIO 313L General Ecology laboratory and Dr. Kristi Arnold’s ART 204 Fundamentals of Color and Design worked together to create the art exhibit “Placida Paper: Turning Algae into Art.”

For this STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) project, students harvested overabundant algae and duckweed from Lake Placida and turned it into paper which was then used to create works of art. These classes are excited to share their nature-based art with the campus as a demonstration of the importance of collaboration and creativity in addressing an environmental problem.

The exhibit is free and will be on display through February in High Library on the main floor.
