Dangerous Depictions of Adoption in the World of Harry Potter In-Person

Join Elizabethtown College English Professor Tara Moore for a fascinating presentation on the fantasy world in J.K. Rowling's incredibly successful Harry Potter book series.

Dr. Moore's lecture will explore Rowling's depiction of adoption. Moore notes, "For a franchise that has such an impact on generations of readers, the Harry Potter narratives do a terrible job at representing the adopted child."

Dr. Moore teaches technical and web writing as well as a course on Young Adult Literature. She recently published "Gaining the Grown-Up Perspective in Harry Potter and the Curse Child," in the book Harry Potter and the Convergence Culture: Essays on Fandom and the Expanding Potterverse (2018).

This presentation is free and open to the public. Please direct questions to Joshua Cohen at cohenjp@etown.edu or at 717-361-1453.
